The modular aluminum grid is lightweight and versatile, securely holding bins stacked neatly while providing X and Y directional tracks for AutoStore robots. This design enables robots to easily access any storage location within the grid. Its adaptability makes it suitable for uniquely shaped spaces, allowing installation around columns, on mezzanines, and across multiple levels, optimizing your existing warehouse space. Grid expansions can also be seamlessly integrated at any time without disrupting ongoing operations.
AutoStore’s compact cube storage system is perfectly suited for warehouses managing a large number of SKUs—an average setup accommodates around 34,000 bins. These durable, stackable warehouse bins are engineered to support both inventory and the weight of multiple stacked bins. Made from high-grade polyethylene (HDPE), standard AutoStore bins offer strength and longevity, while optional ESD-safe bins provide protection for sensitive electronic components. Each bin can store a single SKU or be subdivided into as many as 32 compartments, and even standard KLT boxes (Euro containers) can be housed within them. The system's software maintains real-time, precise control over the contents of every bin, ensuring efficient and accurate inventory management.
AutoStore robots move swiftly along the top of the grid, retrieving, rearranging, and delivering bins to workstations for tasks like picking, replenishment, and inventory control. Operating 24/7—even in darkness or low temperatures—they are incredibly energy-efficient: 10 robots use the same power as one household vacuum. Robots communicate wirelessly with the controller to calculate optimal routes, self-diagnose issues, and automatically head to maintenance or charging when needed. If one fails, another seamlessly takes over.
The Red Line series features two robot types: the R5 (compatible with 220 and 330 mm bins) and the R5+ (also supports 425 mm bins). With efficient motors and energy recovery systems, they operate continuously, docking autonomously when idle or low on power.
AutoStore ports, or workstations, are where bins are delivered for picking, replenishment, and other inventory tasks. These ports can be upgraded with pick-to-light technology, including laser pointers that guide operators to the exact pick location—ideal for bins with multiple SKUs. A variety of port types are available, each offering different functions and speeds to suit specific warehouse needs.
The AutoStore controller serves as the system’s brain, managing storage locations, directing robot traffic, and maintaining the database. As the link between AutoStore and your Warehouse Management System (WMS), it enables seamless integration with any ERP or WMS platform, ensuring smooth and efficient operations within this closed-loop system.
